Taraana Couture

We have our place set up on Alipore Road. It is a nice part of town and we enjoy being here. We call it Taraana Couture, but it is really just a simple space where we work on clothes. We have several sewing machines lined up and there is always the sound of needles clicking away. The windows are large, so we get a good amount of sunlight during the day, which helps when we are trying to match thread colors to the fabric. We don't have a lot of finished items on display because we mostly work on pieces as they come in. People bring us their fabrics or ask us to make something specific for them. It is a bit of a process, with lots of measuring and pin-tucking. We have a small area with a mirror where people can try things on. Alipore Road is usually busy with cars, but inside the shop, we try to keep things a bit more relaxed. We have a few assistants who help with the embroidery and the finishing touches. It is not a corporate setup at all; it’s just a group of us who know how to sew and like working with nice materials. We don't spend money on ads or big promotions. Word of mouth from the people who live around Alipore is how most folks find out about us. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work on the table.
