Sundari Saree Emporium

We are over at 165 Chittaranjan Avenue, which is right in the middle of the Burra Bazar area. Being near the M G Road Metro Station means there is always a lot of noise and people moving around outside our doors. Sundari Saree Emporium is just one of the many shops in this crowded part of town, but we like it here. It is a bit of a walk from the station if the sidewalk is packed, which it usually is during the day. We spend our days surrounded by sarees and fabrics, folding things and putting them back on the shelves. Burra Bazar has a certain energy that you don't find anywhere else, and we are right in the thick of it. The shop isn't anything too modern or polished, just a regular place with piles of stock and old wooden counters. We don’t use any fancy systems, just our hands and some basic notebooks to keep track of what’s what. Sometimes the heat on Chittaranjan Avenue gets to be a lot, so we keep the fans going all day long. People pop in after getting off the metro or while they are doing their other shopping in the market. It’s a busy life but we are used to it by now. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, yet Sundari Saree Emporium stays pretty much the same. We just keep showing up and doing the work.
