Our office is located at No. 7 Sambhunath Mullick Lane. It is one of those traditional old lanes that can get quite congested during the peak hours of the day. We have been operating our silk export business from this same spot for a long time. The building shows its age a bit, but it’s sturdy and has plenty of character. Inside, we have rows of shelves where we keep the different silk varieties. It’s a lot of manual labor, as every piece has to be inspected by hand before it goes anywhere. We don't have much in the way of decoration. The walls are mostly covered in calendars and old notes we’ve pinned up over the years. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives, and we have to shuffle furniture around to make room. The street outside is always full of life, with carts and vendors passing by constantly. Sometimes the noise makes it hard to hear on the phone, but we manage. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. It's just a handful of us who know the trade well. We take things as they come and try not to overcomplicate the process. It's a steady way of life in a part of the city that never seems to stop moving. We usually close up around six and walk to the main road to catch the bus. We’ve seen many businesses come and go, but we’re still here at number seven.
