Isis Design

Isis Design is based out of 106 Wellesley Mansions at 44B Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road in Kolkata. It is a classic old Kolkata address, and the building has that specific look you only find in this part of the city. Wellesley Mansions is an old place with high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light but also a lot of the city noise. Being on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road means you hear the trams, the honking, and the general roar of Kolkata all day long. Inside, it is a bit more creative-looking than your average office. We have sketches and samples laying around on the tables. It is not perfectly tidy, but that is because we are actually working on stuff. The floors are old stone and the walls have been painted a few times over the years. We like it here because it has character, even if the plumbing is a bit temperamental sometimes. We spend our days designing things and arguing about colors or layouts. It is a small studio feel. We usually send someone out to get chai for everyone in the afternoon. It is a very Kolkata way of working. We don't have any corporate manuals; we just figure things out as we go along. It is a bit dusty and a bit loud, but it is our space and we have been here for a good while.
