Sriniketan Fashions is based out here in Ahmedpur. Birbhum is a quiet place compared to the big cities like Kolkata, but we keep busy enough with our work. We started this because there was a need for good clothes around here and we knew the trade. We deal with all sorts of garments for men and women. The shop isn't huge, but it's got what people need for their daily lives and special events too. Some days it's just local people coming in for a bit of shopping. Other days we are packing things up in boxes to send them further away to other towns. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even if we are a private limited company on the legal papers. We know most of our customers by their first names. Birbhum can get quite hot in the summer months, so we try to keep the place cool for whoever walks in through the door. We aren't trying to be some big fancy brand with expensive ads. We just want to provide stuff that looks decent and lasts a while. Sometimes we run out of stock faster than we expect, especially during the festival season when everyone wants something new. Then it's a scramble to get more from our suppliers. You'll find us near the main road in Ahmedpur. It’s easy to spot if you are looking. We spend a lot of time just chatting with folks who drop by.
