We operate out of Harish Neogi Road, which is in the Ultadanga and Maniktala area of the city. It is a very typical Kolkata neighborhood where everyone seems to be in a constant hurry. Our hosiery unit has been running for many years now. We still have a lot of the older machines that work perfectly fine for what we need. The building itself has definitely seen better days, but it is sturdy and it serves our purposes well enough. We make basic undergarments and various cotton items. It is not the kind of fancy stuff you see on fashion runways, but it is what everyone needs for daily life. We have a loyal group of workers who show up every single morning. We always try to drink our morning tea together before the noisy shifts start. The rhythm of the factory floor is something that I have really grown to love over time. It is often noisy and warm, but it feels like home to us. We do not have a fancy board of directors or a big corporate structure. It is just us making sure the quality of the stitching is decent for the price we are charging. We have had to deal with our share of power cuts and rain, but we always bounce back. We are just a small part of the big textile world in West Bengal.
