Smriti Apparels is tucked away inside Govind Mahal Apartments on Wood Street. We are specifically in Suite No. 6 on the second floor. It’s not your typical storefront with a big glass window. You have to come into the building and head up to find us. Because we are in an apartment complex, it feels much quieter than a regular shop on the street. We use the space to keep our stock and meet with people who are looking for specific outfits. The rooms are filled with stacks of fabric and finished pieces that we’ve put together. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to move around when we have a lot of new stock, but we make it work. Wood Street is a good area, though parking can be a real headache some days. We’ve set up the suite so it’s functional, even if it looks a bit lived-in with our sewing kits and measuring tapes lying around. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most people hear about us from someone else who has been here. It’s a small, personal way of doing things. We spend our hours checking the stitching and making sure everything is ready for whoever is coming to pick it up. It’s a simple business, run out of a few rooms, and that suits us just fine.
