Silence

The name of the company is Silence, which is funny because 2/1A Monohar Pukur 2nd Lane is usually pretty noisy. Kolkata is just like that, with people yelling and bells ringing at all hours. Our space is in a narrow lane where the sunlight doesn't always reach the bottom floor. It’s an old place with high ceilings and those big heavy doors that creak every time you open them. We have our desks crammed into the front room and the back is mostly used for storage. There are piles of paper everywhere and we usually have to move a stack of folders just to find a place to sit down. We aren't the type of people who care much about fancy titles or polished presentations. We just focus on the work that comes in through the door. Some days we are incredibly busy and other days we just sit and drink coffee while waiting for the courier to arrive. The monsoons are the worst because the lane gets a bit muddy and we have to be careful with the inventory. We’ve known the people in the neighboring shops for a long time and we often help each other out when someone needs a hand. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that; we just rely on people knowing we’ve been here for years. It’s a simple, messy, and honest way to run a business.
