You’ll find Shubbani Atelier Private Limited at 4/3B Orient Row in Kolkata. We are situated quite close to the Orient Medical Center, which is a good landmark for people who aren't familiar with the street. It’s a relatively quiet pocket of the city compared to the main hubs. The atelier is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a workspace filled with patterns, rolls of cloth, and half-finished garments on mannequins. We don't have a big corporate office; it’s more of a workshop where everyone is involved in the hands-on part of the business. The lighting is bright because we need to see the fine details of what we are sewing. Sometimes the neighborhood dogs bark a lot in the alleyway, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We don’t have a marketing team or a sales strategy. We just do the work as it comes in and try to stay organized with our notebooks and ledgers. Most of our visitors are people we’ve known for a long time. The space is a bit cluttered with threads and paper, but we know where everything is. It’s just a small group of us trying to make a living doing what we know. We drink a lot of tea and keep the fans on, just like every other small business in this part of West Bengal. It’s simple, but it’s ours.
