Down on Christopher Road, you’ll find our place at 35/R. Sgmatters is a bit of a mix of things, dealing with both fashion and entertainment stuff. It sounds more exciting than it actually is on a Tuesday morning when we are just staring at spreadsheets or checking fabric samples. The office is a regular room with some old furniture and a lot of papers scattered around. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in India; we just want to keep things moving. The fashion side takes up most of our time, looking at what people want to wear and trying to get it made. The entertainment part comes in when we help organize small local things or handle some promotions. It’s a small team here, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything. One person might be on the phone and the next minute they are helping move a heavy box. We don't have any corporate slogans on the walls. It’s just a practical workspace where we spend most of our waking hours. The neighborhood is okay, and we know the other business owners on the street. We just do our best to stay on top of the tasks and make sure the bills get paid. It’s a lot of hard work and not much glamour, despite what the company name might suggest. We are just regular people working to make it through the week.
