Sasta Sunder

Sasta Sunder is situated at 51 Vivekanand Road. This part of Kolkata is always moving because we are so close to the Girish Park Metro Station. You can see people rushing to catch the train every few minutes throughout the day. The building is an older style, which is very common for the 700007 area. Being on such a major road means there is constant noise from the buses, taxis, and the occasional tram nearby. We have the shop set up on the ground level so people can just walk in from the sidewalk. The interior is quite plain and simple. We have shelves and a counter where we spend most of the day. It’s a practical space without any unnecessary frills. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint eventually, but they do for now. We know the other shopkeepers on this stretch of Vivekanand Road and often chat. Sometimes we stand near the door to catch a bit of air when the fans aren't enough during the humid months. The metro station is the main landmark, so we just tell people to look for that. There is a lot of history in these streets, and the old buildings really show it. We handle a lot of small tasks throughout the day and keep a log of what needs to be done. It’s a busy life here near the metro. The sidewalk is usually narrow because of the vendors.
