Sandhyaa

Sandhyaa is located right where Laljee Saha Street meets Hari Mohan Dutta Road in the Dum Dum Cant area. It is a part of Kolkata that feels very lived-in. The shop is situated in a way that we see people going to and from the station all the time. It is a small space, and we have had to figure out how to fit everything in without it feeling too cramped. There are some old wooden cabinets where we keep the supplies. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they have a bit of character this way. Most of the people who come in are from the nearby houses. We know many of them by name. The traffic outside can be a bit much sometimes, with the narrow streets and the bikes zooming past. We usually have a small tea break in the afternoon when things slow down. The mirrors are old but they are clear enough. We use a lot of local products that people around here like. It is not like those big places in the malls. We just have a couple of chairs and some basic equipment. Sometimes the doorbell rings when no one is there because of the wind, but we don't mind. It's just how the day goes on this corner of Dum Dum. There is a calendar from last year still hanging in the back. We keep the door open most of the time.
