Rup Suravi

Rup Suravi is located on Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani, Kolkata - 700065. It’s a busy road and there is always something going on outside. The shop has been here for a while, and the name is well-known to the people who live in this part of the city. It’s not a very large place, but we have enough room to do our work properly. We handle hair and basic grooming for the locals. I usually arrive in the morning and get the lights on and the towels ready for the first person who walks in. The street noise is quite loud, but once the door is shut, it gets a bit quieter inside. We have a few mirrors and the usual tools of the trade scattered around the counters. I try to keep everything in its place, but when it’s a busy Saturday, things can get a little messy. It’s just me and a couple of others working here. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that. We just focus on the person sitting in the chair at that moment. Sometimes we have a little radio playing some old songs in the background. The tea stall next door is where we get our chai, and often the smell of fresh tea drifts into the shop. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, and we are happy to be part of the daily life here on Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani.
