Our shop is on the first floor at thirty-nine Kali Krishna Tagore Street. It’s an old part of the city, and the building has a lot of character, even if it’s a bit worn down in places. You have to climb the stairs to get to us. The street downstairs is always full of people and vendors. Sometimes it’s hard to even hear yourself talk because of all the honking. We have rolls of fabric leaning against the walls and samples hanging from hooks. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we have a lot of stock, but we make it work. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who come up to see what’s new. It’s not a big corporate showroom. It’s more like a workshop where things actually happen. We’ve been here for some time now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a little, but the busy energy stays the same. Most of the light comes from the windows facing the street. On rainy days, it gets a bit dark inside, but we just turn on the overhead lights and keep going. We don’t have any big slogans or anything like that. We just sell what we have and try to be fair about it. It’s a small, local operation and we’re just part of the furniture on this street now.
