Roop Samrat Fashions is right on C. R. Avenue, at number 191. If you know where Ram Mandir is, then you know where we are. It’s a landmark that everyone uses around here. Being on C. R. Avenue means we are right in the thick of things. There is always someone walking by, and the sound of traffic is something we just don't notice anymore. Our shop is packed with clothes from floor to ceiling. We don't have much empty space, but that’s because we like to have plenty of options for whoever comes through the door. The building is one of those classic Kolkata structures that has seen a lot of years. We spend our days showing people different styles and helping them find something they like. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and re-arranging the racks. Near Ram Mandir, there is always a bit of a crowd, especially during the festivals. Those are our busiest times, and we usually end up staying way past our closing time. We aren't a big chain store with uniform shirts and scripted greetings. We just talk to people like they are our neighbors, which many of them are. It’s a busy, dusty, noisy place, but it’s our spot on C. R. Avenue and we’ve grown quite fond of it over the years. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in to visit.
