Ritu Kumar

In Kolkata, we are located at K-2/6 in the Karunamoyee Housing Estate. This is in Saltlake, Kolkata-91. It is a very specific kind of place to have an office. The Karunamoyee area is mostly residential, so it’s a lot quieter here than in the center of the city. Our space in K-2/6 is part of that housing estate vibe. It feels more like a home than a cold corporate building. We are Ritu Kumar, and we’ve been operating from this Saltlake address for some time. The rooms are a bit small, and we’ve had to get creative with how we store everything. There’s a lot of greenery around the estate, which is nice when you look out the window. Sometimes we take our lunch outside just to get some air. The building itself is nothing special to look at, but it’s sturdy. We have our desks crammed in where they fit. It gets a bit humid in the summer, but we have our fans going. People in the housing estate know we are here. They see us coming and going every day. It’s a relaxed way to work. We don't have fancy meetings or big presentations. We just handle the business of Ritu Kumar from this little corner of Kolkata. It’s a quiet life, but it suits us just fine. We just take it one day at a time.
