Rangotsav Sarees

Park Street is usually known for its restaurants and big lights, but we are tucked away on the ground floor at 111a. Rangotsav Sarees is a place where we keep things fairly simple despite the famous address. We have been here for a bit, watching the city change around us. The shop stays fairly cool because we’re on the ground floor, which is nice during those hot Kolkata summers when the sun is beating down on the pavement. We spend our days unfolding and folding sarees for anyone who wanders in from the sidewalk. It’s a lot of manual labor, really. People think running a clothing shop is easy, but your arms get tired by the end of the day. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most of our customers are people who were just walking by or someone who heard about us from a friend who bought something here years ago. The shelves are packed tight with different colors and fabrics. Sometimes it feels like we’re running out of room, but we always find a way to squeeze in new stock. We don’t go for the high-pressure sales stuff. If you like something, you buy it. If not, that’s fine too. We’re just here to show what we have and maybe chat for a bit. It’s a straightforward business, and we like it that way. Park Street keeps moving fast, but inside our shop, things happen at their own pace and we just keep going.
