Rangotsav Sarees

You can find us on the ground floor of 111 A Park Street. It’s a very busy area and the rent isn't cheap at all, so we make sure to use every inch of the shop space we have. We have sarees stacked up on every single shelf. Some days it really feels like a mountain of fabric that never ends. We’ve been here at Park Street for a while and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. It’s always lively outside. We get all sorts of people walking in, some just looking and some who know exactly what they want. It takes a lot of effort to keep the sarees folded neatly. Once someone looks through a big pile, it takes us ages to get it all back the way it was before. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything; a lot of the bookkeeping is still done in a simple ledger. It’s just how we’ve always done things here. The floor is tile and it stays relatively cool in the summer which is nice. We have a few wooden stools for people to sit on while they look at the different colors and patterns. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting the heavy bundles and showing them one by one. By the time we close up at night, our backs are usually a bit sore and we are ready to go home.
