Elan Couture

Elan Couture is tucked away on Ram Moham Mullick Garden Lane, right across from the Salt Lake Stadium. If there’s a match or an event at the stadium, the whole area gets incredibly crowded and loud, but on regular days it’s just another lane. Our place is at B/H/4/53. We do a lot of clothes and design work here. It’s not a big fancy boutique like you see in malls. It’s more of a working space where fabrics are everywhere. We have rolls of cloth and sewing machines and patterns spread out on big tables. Sometimes the floor is covered in thread and scraps of fabric by the end of the day. We spend a lot of time measuring and cutting and trying to get the fit right. It’s a bit messy but that’s how we work. People come to us when they want something specific made. We don’t have a big sign outside or anything. Usually, it's just people who live nearby or those who have heard about us through friends. Being near the stadium makes it easy to give directions, though people still sometimes miss the turn into the lane. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the neighbors are used to the sound of the machines. It’s just us doing our craft and making sure the clothes come out okay. We like the work, even when it’s a bit hectic. It's a nice little spot to work in every day.
