We've been at No. 198- A near the Ram Mandir for quite a while now. Most people around here know us just by the sarees hanging in the front. It’s a busy spot, especially during the festival months when the temple gets crowded and everyone is out looking for something new to wear. We keep a lot of different patterns in stock because everyone wants something specific, maybe a certain border or a particular shade of silk. The shop isn't huge, but we make the most of the space we have. Usually, one of us is busy folding things back up after a customer leaves. It takes time to keep everything neat. Sometimes the lights flicker when the weather is bad, but we just carry on. We don't do fancy advertising. People just walk in because they saw a saree they liked or their neighbor told them to come check out what we have. It’s mostly just us working here every day, making sure the shelves are full and the floor is swept. You’ll see us opening the shutters early in the morning. We spend a lot of time talking to the suppliers to see what they have coming in next. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We know the regulars by name and what they usually look for. Life at P. R. Avlu is fast, but inside the shop, we try to take our time with each person.
