New Bengal Cap House is at No. 69 Rabindra Sarani. If you’ve ever walked down Rabindra Sarani, you know how crowded and lively it can get. Our shop is right in the middle of all that energy. We specialize in caps, and we’ve been doing this for a long time. The walls are lined with all sorts of headwear, from simple daily ones to more traditional styles. It’s a small space, and it gets quite dusty with all the fabric around. We have a workbench in the back where we do some of the finishing work. It’s a very hands-on job. We don't have a computer system or anything high-tech; we mostly use a ledger and our own memory to keep track of things. The neighborhood is full of history, and we feel like a part of that fabric. Customers come in and out, some looking for something specific and others just browsing. We don't use any sales tactics. If someone likes a cap, they buy it. We spend our time dusting the shelves and making sure the stock looks okay. Sometimes we sit out front on a stool and watch the people go by when it's quiet. It’s a humble business, but it keeps us busy. We don't need much more than our spot on the street and a good supply of caps to keep going.
