Payel Glamour

Payel Glamour is our little shop at number 19 in the 700065 area of Kolkata. It’s a humble place where we do hair and basic makeup for the local women. I started working here because I like the atmosphere of a neighborhood parlor. It’s not a big corporate chain with uniforms. It’s just a few of us trying to do a good job every day. The space is simple with a couple of chairs and a small table for the products we use. We don't have a big fancy sign, but the people who live nearby know where we are located. Often, someone will come in for a quick thread or to get their hair braided for a local event. We talk about family and life while the work gets done. It’s a very personal way to work compared to bigger shops. The room is usually filled with the scent of hair oil and soap. It’s a familiar smell that I’ve grown to like over time. We try to keep the place tidy, though sometimes things get a bit messy when we’re very busy. We aren't looking to be the most famous place in the city. We just want to be a reliable spot for the ladies in this neighborhood. If you live around here, you’ve probably walked past us many times. It’s just a normal part of the street.
