Our shop, Nirmal Saree Mandir Pvt. Ltd., is up on the first floor at 111 Park Street. It’s a bit of a climb if you aren't used to it, but once you get inside, it’s quiet compared to the street noise outside. Park Street is always moving, but up here we just focus on the sarees. We have stacks of them everywhere, different colors and fabrics all piled up. Usually, we are busy folding things back up after someone has looked through them. It takes a lot of time to keep things organized. The lighting isn't always perfect, but you can see the work on the fabric well enough. We've been in this building for a long time now. The staff knows where everything is, even the stuff tucked away in the back corners. We don't do much in the way of fancy displays, we just show people what we have in stock. On rainy days, it gets a bit slow, so we catch up on inventory. Customers come in looking for something specific, and we try to find it in the piles. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bundles and showing them one by one. That’s just the way it goes in a saree shop like ours. We are just a group of people working together to keep the shop running smoothly. Most of us have been here for years, so we know each other's routines pretty well.
