Nikhar

Nikhar is a small shop located on M B Road in the 700051 area of Kolkata. It has been our home for several years now. M B Road is usually quite busy with people going to work or running their daily errands, so we get a lot of people just dropping in without any appointment. The shop is not anything special to look at from the street, but we keep the inside clean and functional for everyone. We focus on the basics of hair and beauty. There are three of us working here most days of the week. We have all lived in this part of town for most of our lives, so we understand the local tastes and what people like. It is a very grounded place to work. We do not use expensive equipment that nobody understands. We just use the tools that have always worked for us. Sometimes the water pressure in this old building acts up a bit, so we keep a few buckets ready in the back just in case. It is those little things you have to deal with when you run a local business. Our customers are mostly folks from the nearby houses and the new apartments. They come in for a quick trim or to get ready for a local party. We do not put on any acts here. It is just us doing our jobs day in and day out on M B Road.
