New Diamond Chikon House

New Diamond Chikon House is located at No. 78 Rabindra Sarani. This part of the city is very old and the streets are quite narrow and crowded. Our shop is tucked into one of these busy blocks. We focus on chikon embroidery work, so the inside of the shop is full of different fabrics and garments covered in white thread patterns. It is a lot to look at. We have racks lining the walls and some glass cases that have seen better days. Rabindra Sarani is never quiet; you can hear the bells of the rickshaws and the shouting of vendors all day long. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. Inside the shop, we have a couple of stools where people can sit while we pull down different items for them to see. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name above the door that has faded a little over time. We do all the folding and organizing ourselves, which takes up a lot of our time when the shop is empty. The ceiling is high, which helps keep it a bit cooler in the summer months. We have been at No. 78 for many years, and we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but we just keep doing our work the same way. It is a simple place where we try to provide what people are looking for without making a big fuss about it.
