New City Shop

The New City Shop is tucked away at 26/G, Duttabad Road in the Salt Lake City-Bidhan Nagar area of Kolkata. We are quite close to Bidhan Sishu Uddan, so you often hear the sounds of the park nearby. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at, just a regular place where we keep the essentials. The pincode here is 700064. We spend a lot of our time unpacking boxes and making sure the items are lined up on the shelves. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when we get a big shipment of goods. Kolkata weather can be a bit unpredictable, so we’re always keeping an eye on the door when it starts to rain. We don't have a big team of employees, just a few of us who handle the sales and the stocking. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and dealing with the small details of running a store. Most of our day is spent helping people find what they need or counting out change. The walls have a few scuffs and the lighting is just regular tube lights. We aren't trying to be a modern supermarket. We just want to be a reliable spot in the neighborhood where you can pick up some soap or a bag of rice. It’s basic, hard work, but it’s what we know how to do here on Duttabad Road.
