Navbharat Overseas Pvt. Ltd. operates out of No. 6 Chowringhee Lane. It’s one of those old parts of Kolkata where the buildings have a lot of history and the walls are thick. Our office is a bit old-fashioned. We’ve got big wooden desks and a lot of filing cabinets that have seen better days. Working in the overseas trade business means we spend a lot of time on the phone or waiting for emails from different time zones. It’s not always exciting. A lot of it is just checking numbers and making sure the shipping labels are correct. Chowringhee Lane is always busy, so there’s a lot of background noise from the taxis and the people outside. We don’t really have a big reception area or anything fancy for visitors. Most people who come here are just delivery drivers or guys picking up documents. The humidity in the summer can be pretty rough, and our old fans just move the hot air around. We’ve been doing this for a long time now. We aren't a massive company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a steady group of us who know how the export game works. We deal with the delays and the port issues as they come. It’s just regular work for us. We keep things moving and try not to get too stressed when things get backed up at the docks or the paperwork gets stuck.
