Naskar Apparel Llp is tucked away at Z3/429 on Jelia Para Road, over in the 700044 area of Kolkata. It is a bit of a trek to get out here if you are coming from the city center, but it’s where we have our space and it works for us. The building is a simple one, and we use a fair bit of it for our apparel work. You can usually hear the sound of the place before you see it because those sewing machines can be quite loud when they all get going at once. We don’t have any fancy signs or big displays out front. It’s just a place where work gets done. Jelia Para Road can get pretty muddy when the monsoon rains hit, which makes getting the finished goods out a bit of a challenge sometimes. We just stack them up and wait for a clear window to load the van. The staff here are mostly local folks who have been in the garment trade for a long time. We don't really have meetings or big strategy sessions; we just talk over the machines or during the lunch break about what needs to be finished by Friday. It’s a practical way to run things, and it keeps the stress down. We are just a small part of the big textile world in West Bengal, doing our bit from this corner of Kolkata.
