Naari Saree

Finding us isn't too hard if you know where the Lotus Divine Banquet is on Mahendra Roy Lane. Naari Saree is right there in the Topsia area, and it’s a place that feels very much like a part of the neighborhood. The lane can get a bit cramped with traffic, especially when there’s a big event next door at the banquet hall. Our shop is filled with all kinds of sarees, and we spend a good chunk of our day moving them around and showing them to whoever walks in. It gets pretty warm in the middle of the day, so we rely on the ceiling fans to stay cool while we work. We aren't trying to be anything grand or corporate. It’s just a local spot where we handle fabric and talk to people from morning until night. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting down the lane, so we end up carrying bundles of stock ourselves. It keeps us on our toes. The floor is often covered in loose threads by the end of the shift, and we have to sweep it all up before heading out. It’s a routine we’ve gotten very used to over the years. We know the other shopkeepers nearby, and we usually share a cup of tea with them when things are slow. It’s a simple life here, focused on the daily tasks and the people who live nearby.
