N. Rafique Dresses Private Limited is located on Kankhully Road at W-89/2/C. If you are familiar with this part of Kolkata, you know the roads can be a bit tight and busy with all sorts of trade going on. We spend our days here working on different types of dresses, mostly making sure the stitching is straight and the fabric is handled right. The sound of the machines is pretty much constant from morning until evening. It’s a lived-in space, not one of those shiny showrooms you see in the city center. We’ve got stacks of cloth in the corners and thread reels everywhere. The heat in the afternoon can be a real struggle, but we have some big industrial fans that keep the air moving at least. The 700018 area is full of workshops like ours, so there is always a lot of activity on the street outside. We don’t really have a big marketing plan; we just work with the clients we’ve known for years. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic on Kankhully Road, but everyone around here understands how it goes. It’s just a group of us trying to make a living by doing honest work with our hands. We focus on the task in front of us and try to get home before the evening rush becomes too much to handle.
