Maity Store

Maity Store is situated in Netaji Bazar, right in the Hridaypur area of Kolkata. We are quite close to the Hridaypur Station Road, so there is a constant stream of people coming from or going to the trains. It’s a typical local market setting with lots of noise and activity. Our shop is where we keep all the daily needs for a household. We have everything from rice and dal to shampoos and snacks. It’s a small space, and we’ve filled every corner with stock. Sometimes the bags of rice are stacked so high they almost touch the ceiling. I’ve been working here for years, and it’s a routine I know well. The market gets very crowded on weekend mornings, and that’s when we are the busiest. We handle all the customers ourselves, weighing things out and packing them in paper bags. We don't use fancy billing machines, just a pen and a notebook to keep track of things. The station road can be quite a mess when it rains, but the shoppers still come through. We know most of the families living around Netaji Bazar. They come to us because we are convenient and they know what to expect. We aren't trying to compete with big stores; we just want to be a reliable place for the people in Hridaypur to get their kitchen essentials without any trouble or extra waiting time.
