Madura Garment

Madura Garment is based in Jadvpur, Kolkata, located at 82/35 P.G.H. Saha Road. We are up on the 4th floor, specifically in room 205 of the Bikramgarh area. Getting up those stairs every morning definitely wakes you up since there isn't always a lift working. From the windows on the 4th floor, you can see out over the rooftops of Jadvpur, which is a nice view when you need a break from the sewing machines. The office is usually a bit loud because of the garment work being done. We have rows of machines and cutting tables spread out across the floor. It’s a busy place where people are constantly moving rolls of fabric or clipping loose threads. We don't really bother with any fancy decorations or a reception desk. The focus is entirely on the garments we are making. The air can get a bit stuffy with all the lint and fabric dust, so we keep the windows open when the weather allows it. Most of the day is spent checking the quality of the stitching or packing finished items into boxes for delivery. It’s a very hands-on environment. By the time the afternoon tea break comes around, the place is usually a mess of scraps and patterns. We clean up at the end of the day and start all over again the next morning. It’s just how things go for us here in Kolkata while we work.
