Tanupriya Sarees

We are located at Shop No. 3 in the Treasure Island building, right across from the Globe Cinema. It is usually pretty noisy outside with the traffic and the movie crowds, but we like it that way. The shop is full of sarees stacked from the floor to the ceiling. We spend a lot of our day pulling them down and showing the different patterns to anyone who walks in. It gets quite busy when a new film finishes at the Globe and people wander over to look at what we have. My brother and I run the place most days. We sit on the floor cushions while we work because it is more comfortable for folding the heavy silks. The lighting in Treasure Island is okay, but we added a few extra bulbs so the gold threads in the sarees really show up. Sometimes the tea man comes by twice a day and we take a quick break. We have been in this spot for a good while now. Most of our customers are folks who live nearby or those visiting the cinema for a matinee. We don’t have fancy displays or anything. It is just a simple shop with a lot of fabric and a lot of colors. We try to keep things tidy but with so many sarees, it’s hard to keep every shelf perfect. It feels like a second home to us since we are here from ten in the morning until late evening.
