People know us around A. P. C. Road because we’ve been here at number 66 for quite a while now. Sealdah is always busy, so there is never a quiet moment outside the door. Most days start early before the sun gets too high, sweeping the front and getting things ready. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just a regular store where you can find what you need without a fuss. My father used to say that a shop is only as good as the people who walk in. We see the same faces every morning, people heading to the station or just living nearby. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard, but that’s just life in this part of town. The shelves are packed pretty tight. If you look around, you’ll see stuff piled up in corners because we try to keep enough stock for everyone. It’s not a big corporate place. It’s just us. We deal with the heat in the summer and the rain that floods the street sometimes. You learn to just keep going. People ask for all sorts of things, and if we have it, we get it for them. It’s a simple way to spend the day, talking to neighbors and making sure the inventory is okay. Nothing too complicated happens here, just the usual daily work.
