Laxmi Garments

Laxmi Garments is tucked away on the first floor of 1-C Burman Street. Being on the first floor means you have to walk up the stairs, so we don't get as many random people walking in as the shops on the ground level. But the people who do come up are usually looking for something specific. We have been here on Burman Street for a good while. The space is filled with heaps of different clothes that we sort through every morning. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes because we have a lot of stock in a small area. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or just organizing the shelves. The light from the window isn't great, so we have several tube lights to keep the place bright. It’s a very hands-on job. We don't have any big slogans or missions; we just want to sell our garments and make a living. Burman Street is always loud with the sound of carts and people calling out, but up here on the first floor, it is just a little bit quieter. We keep a water cooler in the corner for anyone who needs a drink after climbing the stairs. It is just a simple, hardworking environment where we focus on our daily tasks without any fuss. Sometimes the packages arrive late but we manage to get everything sorted out in the end.
