Kishorilal Shyamsunder

Kishorilal Shyamsunder is right on B.T. Road in Kolkata, near the Tala Pumping Station. If you live in this part of the city, you know that the pumping station is a big landmark. The traffic on B.T. Road is almost always heavy with buses and lorries, so there is a constant hum of engines outside our door at number 71. Our building is quite old and has seen many seasons. We have been operating from here for a long time, dealing with our daily business in a very traditional way. The walls are thick and the rooms are a bit dark, but it keeps the heat out during those really hot Kolkata summers. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years. Inside, you will find stacks of ledgers and people busy with calculations. It’s a very practical environment. We don't believe in unnecessary decorations. The floor is concrete and the furniture is built to last. When the rain comes down hard, you can hear it drumming on the roof, and we usually take a break for some hot snacks from the shop next door. It’s a grit-and-grind type of life here near the water works. We are just a local business trying to do things right and stay busy in this crowded, lively part of the city. We have seen the city change around us.
