You can find us up on the second floor at 2 Devendra Dutta Lane in Kolkata. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when we have packages moving in and out. Kiran Exports Kolkata is basically a large room filled with boxes and paperwork. We deal with a lot of shipping and making sure things get where they need to go. The lane downstairs is usually quite cramped with rickshaws and delivery vans. Sometimes the rain makes everything a bit slower, but we keep moving. Being on the second floor gives us a little bit of quiet from the street noise, though you can still hear the shouting and horns. We aren't a big operation with lots of staff, just a few of us making sure the export side of things runs okay. It gets humid in the afternoons, so the fans are always on full blast. We spend most of our time checking lists and labeling cartons. It’s not very glamorous work. Most of our day is just spent making sure the orders are right. The building is old, like most things around here. We’ve gotten used to the quirks of the plumbing and the flickering lights. We’ve been at this address for a while now and know the local carriers pretty well. It’s a practical workspace for what we need to accomplish every day. We just try to keep things moving along smoothly.
