About Karishma Saree – Fashion & Trends in Kolkata
We’ve been at 177B Chittaranjan Avenue for quite some time now. Being right opposite Ram Mandir makes it easy for folks to find us, which is good because the traffic on this road can get pretty hectic. We mostly deal with sarees. It’s a small place but we keep a lot of stock packed into the shelves. My brother and I usually handle the shop, and sometimes we stay late if there's a lot to unpack. People come in looking for something specific for a wedding or just something simple to wear at home. We don't really do much fancy talk here. If you like a saree, you take it. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings us chai while we're showing different fabrics to someone. It’s a busy spot. The temple bells ring across the street and it keeps us company throughout the day. We try to keep things organized but sometimes when it's crowded, things get a bit messy on the counters. That's just how it goes in a saree shop. We know most of the regular people who walk by every day. It feels like a small community even though it's a big city. We aren't doing anything world-changing, just selling clothes and making sure the shop stays open. If you're ever near the Mandir, you've probably seen our sign. We've seen the neighborhood change over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same.
