You can find Joy Ma Shantoshi Store on New Town Road in Kolkata. We are very close to the 30C bus stand, so there is always a lot of movement around here. People are always running to catch their bus or getting off after a long day at work. My shop is small and crowded with all kinds of things. I sell everything from snacks and cold drinks to small household items. The humidity in Kolkata can be quite something, so I always have the fan running. It’s a bit noisy with the buses honking and people shouting, but I’ve grown used to it over the years. I usually open up early in the morning and stay until late. Many commuters stop by for a quick bottle of water or some biscuits. The store is a bit of a jumble, with packets hanging from the ceiling and boxes stacked in the corners. I know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. I don't have any help, so I do everything myself, from cleaning to talking to suppliers. It’s a busy life but it keeps me occupied. I like being near the bus stand because you see so many different faces every day. It’s just a basic local shop serving the people of New Town. No fancy displays, just the things people need when they are on the move.
