Lion Picture And Frames India Ltd is situated in the Bird Jute Mill Compound at 200 Dakshindari Road. It’s an interesting place to work because of the history of the old mill buildings. You can still see the old brickwork and the high ceilings that were meant for a different era. Now, we use the space for wood, glass, and all the things that go into making frames. It’s a bit of a dusty environment because of all the sawing and sanding we do. We have long tables where we lay out the prints and cut the mounts. The smell of wood glue is something you get used to after the first week. Dakshindari Road is always moving, and being in the compound gives us a bit of space away from the street noise, though you still hear the horns outside. We aren't a high-end gallery with white walls. We are more like a workshop where things get built from scratch. Sometimes we have hundreds of frames lined up against the walls waiting for glass. We have a small crew that knows how to handle the materials without breaking anything. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy sheets of glass and moving bundles of molding. We take our time with the corners because if those aren't right, nothing else matters. It’s just how we do things here in the old mill, working away until the evening light fades.
