Lion Picture & Frames (India) Ltd

We operate out of the Bird Jute Mill Compound on Dakshindari Road. It’s an old industrial spot, and you can really feel the history of the place when you walk through the gate. Being at number 200, we have quite a bit of space for all the frames and pictures we handle. It’s not the cleanest environment, what with all the wood dust and packing materials lying around on the floor. We spend a lot of time cutting wood, joining corners, and making sure the glass fits just right. It’s hands-on work. The staff here has been together for a long time. We have a certain rhythm to how we do things. Sometimes the old building gets a bit damp during the rainy season, but we have our ways of keeping the frames dry and safe. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy crates. We don't have a glossy brochure or a big marketing team. We just make frames. People come to us because they know we’ve been here forever and we know what we’re doing with a piece of timber. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day, trucks coming in and out of the compound. We just stay focused on the work at our benches. It’s a simple life, making things that look nice on people's walls. We enjoy the craft and the everyday routine of it all, even on the long days.
