Jiya Saree

Jiya Saree is located right on the ground floor of Onkar Market at 161 Rabindra Sarani. If you have ever walked through Rabindra Sarani, you already know how crowded and loud the whole area gets. Our shop is right in the thick of all that market chaos. It is not a very big space at all, but we have managed to fit hundreds of sarees into the shelves. We have racks that go all the way up to the ceiling. Most of the time, the floor is covered with pieces of fabric because we are busy showing different colors and patterns to the customers who walk in. It’s always a bit messy, but that’s just the way a saree shop in a busy market has to work. We don’t have any fancy spotlights or air conditioning here, just some old ceiling fans that hum and rattle all day long. Jiya Saree has been a part of Onkar Market for a long time now. We know all the other shopkeepers around us and we often help each other out with small things. Sometimes the ground floor gets quite dusty from the traffic on the street, so we are constantly cleaning the glass counters. It’s hard work being on your feet all day long, but we enjoy the talk and the different people we meet. We don't have a big budget for ads. We just put our small sign out on the pavement and wait for people to walk in.
