J. D. India Apparels

Burrabazar is a crazy place to work every day. It is always moving and there is never enough space for the delivery trucks. J. D. India Apparels is located at 9/11 M. G. Road. Being on M. G. Road is helpful because everyone passes by eventually. We deal with all sorts of garments and clothes. The building is old, like most things in this part of the city. We have stairs that are a bit steep and the paint is peeling in some of the corners. It does not matter much to us as long as the clothes stay clean and ready for customers. We spend our mornings unpacking bundles and checking for any mistakes in the stitching. My cousin helps me with the accounts, though he is always complaining about the heat in the summer. We use big fans to keep the air moving when it gets stuffy. Customers come from all over to pick up their orders. Sometimes they stay for a chat, and other times they are in a big hurry to beat the afternoon traffic. We do not do any big advertising. If the clothes are alright, people come back. That is the way it has always worked for us. The tea seller downstairs knows exactly how we like our drinks. It is a real community here on M. G. Road. We might move a few things around to make more room, but the shop stays pretty much the same. It is a long day, but it feels good.
