Sukchar Bazar is always crowded and that’s where you will find Haldar Stores if you are looking. We are right on B T Road in Sodepur and the area is usually humming with people. The zip code is 700110. Every morning the trucks come in with new supplies and the whole market starts waking up early. It is a bit chaotic with all the shouting and the movement but I like it that way. My shop isn’t very large but we pack a lot into the small space we have. I have been working here for many years now and I know exactly where every single item is kept even if it looks like a mess to someone who just walked in. The walls are a little yellowed from the years and the light isn't the brightest in the back. Being in the bazaar means there is always someone to talk to or some news to hear. We deal with the regular people from the local houses who come in for their groceries. It is a lot of lifting heavy bags and measuring things out for customers. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit when I turn it on high speed during the summer. Kolkata weather makes everything feel a bit sticky but we just keep the shop going regardless. I usually have a cup of tea sitting on the wooden counter while I wait. It is hard work staying open all day but that is just how life is in Sodepur.
