Fashion Point

Our place, Fashion Point, is tucked into B G 18 in Salt Lake City Sector 2. We are quite close to Baisakhi More, so it’s easy to tell people how to get here. Kolkata is a city that feels very lived-in, and this part of Salt Lake has its own pace. It’s a bit quieter than the main city center, but Baisakhi More still stays active with people coming and going from the markets. We have a small sign out front. Inside, the space is filled with the things we need to get through the day. We spend a lot of time rearranging the bottles on the shelves and making sure the floors are clean. The humidity here can be something else, so we do what we can to keep the air moving. We aren't part of some big chain with polished offices. It’s just a small business where we handle everything ourselves. People from the surrounding blocks know us well enough by now. We see the cycle of the seasons from our front window—the heavy rains during monsoon and the shorter days in winter. It’s a practical sort of life. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things running smoothly without making a big fuss about it. It’s just a regular shop in a regular neighborhood, and that’s fine with us.
