Fashion Designer

You can find us at 36 Southern Avenue in Kolkata. It’s a nice part of town with a lot of old trees and a bit of history to it. Our place, Fashion Designer, is situated right there, and we’ve been at this spot for quite some time now. The building has that old Kolkata charm, which means the ceilings are high but the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. We don't mind it, though. The space is filled with everything we need—tables for cutting, some old but reliable machines, and shelves full of buttons and zippers. On most days, you’ll find us hunched over our work, trying to get the hemlines just right. The street outside can get a bit noisy with traffic, but inside we just focus on the fabric. We aren't a big factory or a high-end boutique. We’re just a small team of people who like working with our hands. Sometimes the cat from next door wanders in, and we have to shoo it away from the silk. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. People just know we’re here on Southern Avenue and they come by when they need something made. It’s a straightforward way of doing things, and it’s kept us going for years. We just try to do honest work and stay busy with the local orders that come our way.
