Embro World

Our little business, Embro World, is situated at 91 Main Road in the West Office Block of Newbarrackpore. It’s a busy spot on the main road, so there’s always plenty of activity right outside our windows. We do a lot of embroidery work here. When you walk in, the first thing you see are the big frames and all the different colored threads hanging on the walls. It’s a lot of careful work that requires good eyesight and a steady hand. The machines we use for some of the bigger patterns are quite loud, so we usually have to raise our voices to talk to each other. We’ve been in this office block for a while, and we know most of the other people working in the building. Sometimes we share a bit of news or a snack in the hallway. It’s not a very modern space; the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. We spend hours leaning over fabric, making sure every stitch is in the right place. It can be tiring on the back, but seeing a finished piece makes it worth it. We don't really do much in the way of marketing. Most people find us through word of mouth or just because they walk past our sign on Main Road. We just focus on doing the work as best as we can with the tools we have.
