About Eco World Bags – Fashion & Trends in Kolkata
Mukerjee Industrial Complex is where you can find us. It’s a bit of a maze back here on Jhilpar Road in the Mahamayatala area. We spend most of our long days surrounded by the constant noise of the machines and the smell of raw fabric at Eco World Bags. It is definitely not a glamorous spot, but we get the daily work done. The heavy trucks come and go early in the morning, often blocking the narrow main entrance. You learn how to navigate the small lanes after you've been here a while. Most of the crew has been with us since we first opened the doors. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning, just some old, dusty ceiling fans that rattle quite a bit when they are turned on high. Sometimes the heavy rain makes the roof leak a tiny bit near the back corner, but we just move the stacks of bags out of the way. It is a very hands-on type of job. We cut the material, sew the seams, and then pack everything up into big bundles. The neighbors in this industrial complex are all hard workers too, so there is usually someone around to borrow a heavy wrench from if a machine breaks. We mostly eat our lunch together on those small wooden benches outside. It is just a regular life here on Jhilpar Road. We don't spend much time on computers. If you come by, you'll see us covered in thread and dust.
