Our factory is located at 88/1 Laxmi Narayan Road, right in the Dum Dum Cantt area. It’s a decent-sized place where we spend our days making clothes. The neighborhood is mostly residential and small shops, so it’s not as loud as some other industrial parts of the city. We have a set routine here. The workers arrive early, and the machines start humming shortly after. We deal with various types of garments, mostly bulk orders for other businesses. The floor is usually covered in scraps of fabric and empty bobbins. We have a small office section where we keep track of the bills and orders, but most of the action happens in the main hall. It’s not a polished corporate office. We have simple fans and fluorescent lights. Sometimes the rain makes it a bit damp, but we keep the stock high up to stay dry. We’ve been at this Laxmi Narayan Road address for several years now. People around here know us as the place that’s always busy with sewing. We don’t do much advertising; most of our work comes from people who have known us for a long time. It’s a practical setup, focused on getting the stitching right and meeting our delivery dates. We just try to do our jobs and go home at the end of the day.
