Our workplace is situated on Janan Goswami Sarani in the S Block area of Kolkata. It is a part of the city that has its own character, and we have been here long enough to feel like we belong. The building we are in is not anything modern or glass-covered; it is an older structure that has its quirks. We focus on our international work from this office. There are always documents to sort through and samples to inspect before they get sent out. We do not have a lot of staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything. One minute you might be on a call, and the next you are helping pack a crate. The street outside can be quite narrow, so getting deliveries in and out requires a bit of planning. We have a lot of shelves filled with folders and fabric swatches from past years. It is a bit dusty in the corners, but that is just how it goes in a working office. We do not use any fancy management systems; we mostly rely on notebooks and our own memory to keep things straight. It gets loud when the traffic builds up nearby, but we just shut the windows and keep going. We are not trying to be something we are not. We are just a small group of people in Kolkata trying to handle our business as best as we can. It keeps us busy.
